One car's journey through Baktam
Example: Tuesday, 8:10 a.m., at Dave's garage. Sarah pulls up with squealing brakes. Here is what happens from the door to handover:
1. QR check-in
Sarah scans the poster at the counter and enters her plate, complaint and a photo herself. No queue.
2. Check-in form and signature
She reads the intake terms on her phone and signs. Dave turns the record into a work order in one click.
3. Diagnosis and quote
The technician checks the pads and discs and adds parts and labor; tax and the total appear by themselves.
4. Customer approval
The quote goes to Sarah's phone; she accepts the terms and approves with her signature.
5. Parts
No discs on the shelf: “Buy now” from a connected parts seller, or quotes from several sellers.
6. Tracking in the workshop
The car is on screen with its technician. Sarah follows the status from her tracking link.
7. “Your car is ready”
A message goes out when the job is done, with the amount due and your IBAN if you like.
8. Payment and handover
Paid by card or bank transfer, any balance goes on account. The handover printout is signed and the next service reminder is set.
Words are forgotten. A signed record stays.
Most arguments at handover start at check-in. Baktam records what the customer saw and agreed to at every stage.
Check-in form and signature
Mileage, fuel, photos, existing damage and belongings left in the car are on the form; the customer reads the terms and signs.
Approval record and verification
The lines, amount and terms the customer approved are kept exactly as they were; the QR code on the record shows it has not been changed since.
Handover record
The work done, parts and amount are on the handover printout, signed by the workshop and the customer. If a balance is due, your bank details are at the bottom.
Storage fee and warranty

Frequently asked questions
Can I bring my data over from my current software?⌄
Yes. You import your stock, customers and vehicles yourself from an Excel or CSV file in Settings > Data import; columns are matched automatically and you review everything before it is saved. If you get stuck, our support team will help.
What happens if the internet goes down?⌄
The cloud version needs an internet connection — there is no offline mode. A phone's mobile data works as a backup connection. If you need to work independently of the internet, the Enterprise plan lets you run Baktam on your own server, on your local network.
Who owns my data, and where is it stored?⌄
Your data is yours. The cloud version is hosted on servers in Germany (EU) with automatic daily backups, and from Settings > Data export you can download all of your records (customers, vehicles, work orders, sales, cash, stock) in one package, as files that open in Excel. On the Enterprise plan you can run Baktam on your own server.
Does it work with my country's currency, VAT and time zone?⌄
Yes. When you sign up you choose your country — for example the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, with more in Europe and Türkiye — and Baktam sets your currency, tax rates, phone code, mileage unit (km or miles) and time zone. Scheduled reminders go out in your local time.
Can I issue VAT invoices?⌄
Baktam prints invoices in your country's format: a bilingual English/Arabic Tax Invoice with your TRN in the UAE, a VAT invoice with your VAT registration number in the UK, a Tax invoice with your ABN or GST number in Australia and New Zealand, an invoice with your GST/HST number in Canada or your VAT number in Ireland, and invoices showing sales tax in the US. In Saudi Arabia, Baktam connects to ZATCA's Fatoora platform for Phase 2 e-invoicing: you onboard your own e-invoicing unit with an OTP from the Fatoora portal, and each sale you issue is signed, reported to or cleared by ZATCA and printed with the ZATCA QR code (Pro and Enterprise plans).
Will it run on my old computer?⌄
Yes. Baktam runs in the browser: any computer with an up-to-date Chrome, Edge or Firefox will do, with nothing to install.
Who trains my staff?⌄
A free 30-minute one-to-one online onboarding session is included when you start. The interface is available in 12 languages — English, Arabic (with an RTL layout), French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Turkish — and each user can pick their own language.
What if I cancel?⌄
There is no lock-in. Cancel in any month, keep using Baktam until the end of your paid period, and download all of your data as files that open in Excel, even after your subscription has ended.
