Cash book app: money in, money out, and you know what you earned tonight
In a small garage a lot of money changes hands without a work order: a five-minute fix, an oil change, lunch, cash handed to the parts seller. The notebook stays on the counter, and in the evening nobody can answer “what did we make today?”. In the Baktam mobile app, tap “Money in” or “Money out” on the home screen. Without opening a customer or a vehicle, enter the amount on one screen, pick what it was for (labor, oil change, parts purchase, rent, food…), mark cash, card or transfer and, if you like, note the plate. You can also tap the microphone and say “brake job 150 card”: the number goes into the amount, “cash”, “card” or “transfer” picks the payment method and the rest becomes the description. Today's money in, money out and the difference stay at the top of the screen. Money entered as “Work income” counts toward this month's revenue and estimated profit; “Other income” such as capital or a loan does not.

Example scenario
Example: before lunch Dave replaces a customer's tie rod end and is paid in cash. He taps “Money in” and says “tie rod end 120 cash”; the amount, the description and cash are filled in, and “Work income” is already selected. For lunch he taps “Money out” and picks “Food”. In the evening the top of the screen shows what came in today, what went out and what is left.
What is it for?
In the workshop
Small jobs are paid without a work order; money that never reaches the notebook goes missing from the evening count.
With Baktam
Tap “Money in” and type or say the amount; no customer, vehicle or work order needed. The screen stays open after saving, so you can enter several in a row.
In the workshop
Rent, food, fuel and money paid to the parts seller aren't kept anywhere, so expenses are invisible.
With Baktam
“Money out” has ready-made choices: parts purchase, rent, food, advance, fuel, bills. The ones you use most move to the front; each is marked as cash, card or transfer.
In the workshop
Every dollar in the drawer looks like profit; capital from a partner or a loan inflates revenue.
With Baktam
For money in you choose “Work income” or “Other income”. Work income counts toward revenue and estimated profit; capital, loans and other income do not.
How does it work?
- 1
Tap “Money in” or “Money out”
Tap the “Money in” or “Money out” button on the home screen of the mobile app. Today's money in, money out and the difference are shown at the top.
- 2
Type or say the amount
Type it into the large amount box, or tap the microphone and say “oil change 90 card”. Your phone's speech recognition writes it down, and the amount, payment method and description are picked out on the phone with simple rules — no AI is used. If the amount isn't recognized, just type it.
- 3
What for, and how it was paid
Pick a choice under “What for?” or type your own, and mark cash, card or transfer. For money in, choose “Work income” or “Other income”, and note the plate if you like.
- 4
Save, and check in the evening
Tap “Add to cash” or “Take from cash”. The entry goes into the cash book and the right account, and shows up on the “My money” screen and in the account movements on the web panel. On the web, the “Money in / out” window under Finance has the same “Work income / Other income” choice.
Who uses it?
Workshop owner
Records money coming in and going out during the day; sees in the evening what was earned on the “My money” screen.
Front desk / cashier
Records small payments and expenses at the counter on one screen.
This feature is part of Baktam, the garage management software that keeps the whole workshop in one place.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a cash register? Does it print a receipt for the customer?
No. The quick cash book is an income and expense entry in your business's own cash book; it does not issue a receipt or invoice to the customer and does not put anything on a customer's account. If the customer needs a work order, a receipt or an invoice, use the work order or sales screen.
Does filling it in by voice need AI or the internet?
No AI is used. Your phone's own speech recognition writes down what you say, and the amount, payment method (cash, card, transfer) and description are picked out on the phone with simple rules. If the language pack is installed on the phone, recognition runs on the phone too. Saving needs the internet as usual, and you can correct the result on screen before saving.
What is the difference between “Work income” and “Other income”?
Work income is money for work you did: it counts toward this month's revenue and estimated profit on the “My money” screen. Capital put in by a partner or a loan you took is “Other income”; it goes into the cash book but is not counted as revenue or profit. Only the business owner sees estimated profit.
If I enter the plate, is it linked to a work order or a customer?
No. The plate is saved only as a note on the entry, so you know later which car it was for. To put money on a customer's account, keep parts and labor separate or add it to the vehicle history, open a work order.
