Payments, cash and receivables: close the credit notebook

A lot of a workshop's money sits on customer accounts and in cheques. In Baktam every payment is taken against a work order or a sale, and anything unpaid goes on the customer's account. The debtors list, cheques and notes coming due, cash movements and the end-of-day report all sit in the same place.

  1. Work order

  2. Payment

  3. Due date

  4. End of day

What is it for?

In the workshop

Nobody is sure who owes what in the credit notebook.

With Baktam

The debtors list shows each customer's balance. If an SMS/WhatsApp account is connected, a polite payment reminder can go out automatically once a week.

In the workshop

Post-dated cheques sit in a drawer instead of a calendar.

With Baktam

The receivables screen lists cheques and notes by due date and separates overdue ones; mark them collected when paid.

In the workshop

Working out “what did we take today?” takes hours every evening.

With Baktam

The end-of-day report shows sales, payments by method, expenses and cash in and out on one page; print it or export it to Excel.

How does it work?

  1. 1

    Take the payment

From the work order or the sale, take cash, card, bank transfer or cheque. Advance payments can be taken too.

  2. 2

    Put the rest on account

Anything unpaid goes on the customer's account. For a cheque, you enter the due date.

  3. 3

    Ring up quick sales

At the counter, scan products by barcode and take payment (POS screen).

  4. 4

    Close the day

Check the end-of-day report: what was sold today, how it was paid, what went into and out of the cash.

Who uses it?

Front desk / cashier

Takes payments, rings up quick sales and sees customer accounts and debtors.

Workshop owner

Keeps an eye on receivables, cheques coming due and the day's takings.

Manager / workshop lead

Enters cash movements and expenses and checks payments.

This feature is part of Baktam, the garage management software that keeps the whole workshop in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take part payments?

Yes. If the customer pays part of the amount, the rest stays on their account as a balance and later payments come off it.

Is the end-of-day report an official fiscal report?

No. Baktam's end-of-day report is an internal summary; it does not replace a certified cash register's fiscal report.

Is the POS available in every country?

No. In countries that require a certified cash register for cash sales (for example Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway), Baktam switches off the POS screen and cash payments; card, transfer and customer accounts still work.

Can cashiers see reports?

Cashiers handle sales and payments and see customer accounts and cash movements; reports and costs are for the owner and managers.
