Workshop tracking: which car has been in for how long, at a glance
With ten cars in the workshop it is hard to keep in your head which one has been waiting the longest. Baktam's “In service” screen lists every car inside from oldest to newest, shows how many days each has been in, and puts the ones older than 3 days in a separate list.

What is it for?
In the workshop
A customer rings: “How's my car?” You walk into the workshop to find the technician.
With Baktam
Plate, customer, car, technician and days in service are on one list. You answer without putting the phone down.
In the workshop
A car waiting for a part gets forgotten in a corner and nobody notices for a week.
With Baktam
Jobs older than 3 days sit at the top under “overdue”, so nothing gets forgotten.
In the workshop
Technicians find out in the morning which jobs are theirs by asking around.
With Baktam
Each technician sees their own cars on “My jobs” and starts and stops the job in the mobile app.
How does it work?
- 1
A work order opens
The moment a car goes into In Service, it appears on the list.
- 2
The list sorts itself
The longest-waiting car is at the top. Jobs older than 3 days have their own heading, with the number of days shown.
- 3
Technicians see their own work
A technician only sees cars assigned to them; amounts are hidden from them.
- 4
The job ends, the car leaves the list
When the technician marks the job Completed, the car drops off the list and, if set up, the customer gets a “your car is ready” message.
Who uses it?
Workshop owner
Sees the workshop's load and any delays on one screen.
Manager / workshop lead
Spots a stuck job and hands it to another technician.
Technician
Sees the cars assigned to them and what comes next.
Front desk / cashier
Tells a calling customer where their car is straight away.
This feature is part of Baktam, the garage management software that keeps the whole workshop in one place.
Frequently asked questions
When does a job count as overdue?
Jobs that have been in service for more than 3 days are shown in the overdue section; the rest are listed as active jobs.
Do technicians see prices on this screen?
No. Amounts are hidden from users with the Technician role, and they only see jobs assigned to them.
Can I see how long a technician spent on a job?
Yes. When the technician starts and stops the job in the mobile app, the time is recorded. The technician report shows completed jobs, time worked and average job time.
