Voice check-in: say it instead of typing it, then confirm
With greasy hands at the lift, typing a complaint and a parts list into a phone is slow, and a part that isn't written down gets forgotten. In the Baktam mobile app, tap the microphone on the check-in screen and say it the way you would tell a colleague: “Squeal from the brakes, front pads and two discs to replace, wheel alignment, mileage 92,000.” Your phone's own speech recognition writes down what you said, and Baktam splits the text into lines: complaint, parts (with quantities), labor and mileage. Everything appears on a preview card first; you correct, delete or add lines, and “Add” fills in the form. You can add parts to a work order's parts list by voice in the same way. Nothing is saved until you confirm it.

Example scenario
Example: on Tuesday morning Tom is under a Ford Focus. Without walking to the front desk, he taps the microphone on his phone and says: “Noise from the brakes, front pads and two discs to replace, wheel alignment, mileage ninety-two thousand.” The preview shows a one-sentence complaint, two part lines, one labor line and 92,000. He checks the disc quantity, taps “Add” and saves the work order himself.
What is it for?
In the workshop
Hands are greasy at the lift; typing the complaint and parts into a phone takes time, so technicians stop taking notes.
With Baktam
Tap the microphone, speak, tap again when done. The complaint, parts, labor and mileage come up in one go.
In the workshop
The customer's complaint is written down in a hurry at check-in and reaches the technician half-told.
With Baktam
Say it while the customer explains; the complaint goes onto the check-in form as one short sentence that you can correct before adding it.
In the workshop
The parts to replace live in the technician's head, and one is forgotten by the time he reaches the office.
With Baktam
“Speak” on the work order's parts list: “two discs, front pads, four spark plugs” becomes lines with quantities. From there you use stock, ask for quotes or send the list on WhatsApp.
How does it work?
- 1
Tap the microphone
Tap the microphone button on the check-in screen or on a work order's parts list. The first time, your phone asks for microphone permission.
- 2
Speak, then tap when done
What you say appears as live text on the screen. At check-in, say the complaint, the parts and the mileage; on the parts list, say the parts and their quantities.
- 3
Check the preview
Complaint, mileage, parts and labor appear as separate lines. Change quantities with plus and minus, fix a line that was misheard or delete it.
- 4
Tap “Add”
Only the form is filled in; the work order is still opened with your own save button. Parts go onto the work order's parts-needed list and labor is added as lines without a price, which you fill in.
Who uses it?
Technician
Says the parts list at the lift; sees no prices and does not buy.
Front desk / cashier
Says the complaint and mileage while the customer explains, then opens the work order.
Workshop owner
Check-in forms and parts lists are filled in completely; technicians don't lose time typing.
This feature is part of Baktam, the garage management software that keeps the whole workshop in one place.
Frequently asked questions
Does it save what I say on its own?
No. The lines appear on a preview card first and you can change every one of them. “Add” only fills in the form; the check-in and the work order are still saved with your own save button. The preview carries the note “AI suggestion — check before adding”.
Is my voice recording sent anywhere?
The audio is not sent to Baktam and is not stored. Your phone's own recognizer turns speech into text; if the language pack is installed on the phone, recognition runs on the phone. To split it into lines, only the transcribed text goes through Baktam to an AI service; Baktam does not store that text, and only the lines you confirm are written to the work order.
Does it always split what I say into lines?
Splitting needs an internet connection and Baktam's AI service. If there is no connection or the service is unavailable at that moment, what you said is added as plain text: a complaint note at check-in, a line on the parts list. You check it on screen and edit it. In a noisy workshop or with fast speech a part name can be misheard, which is why there is a preview.
Is it on the web panel too, and which phones does it work on?
Voice entry is in the Baktam app for Android and iPhone, on the check-in and work-order parts list screens; it is not on the web panel. You speak in your app language. If the phone has no speech recognition the microphone button doesn't appear, and if the language isn't supported you see a warning and type instead. The mobile app is included in your plan.
